Hello Everyone I have recently got my father's WW2 service records, he was in the RA (TA), he served as a gunner, both LAA and HAA, what I am having problems with is trying to work out his postings, I am assuming that it was all in the UK. This is how I read it...but I'm quite sure He enlisted in March 1938 in the RA (TA) 409/78 HAA May 1941 136 HAA 1943 till 24/2/43 671 (M) and 189 HAA Feb 1944 129 HAA 10/8/44 377/119 HAA Mar 1945 184 (M) 30/9/45 145 HAA Would much appreciate any help/feedback on this I have scanned the copy into my computer, so I can always send it to anyone via e-mail. Many thanks for taking time out to read this Charmaine
Charmaine, I get this message when I click on the link you provided on Facebook. This content is currently unavailable The page you requested cannot be displayed at the moment. It may be temporarily unavailable, the link you clicked on may have expired, or you may not have permission to view this page. Can I suggest that you try Googling the relevent HAA and LAA units, which may provide you with locations. RA Website may help. British Artillery Regiments Regards Tom
I acnt see images either what security settings have you got on that facebook album ?. can you copy & paste them to the thread ? or just upload them to here.
Hi Charmaine and welcome. I get the same message as Tom when trying to access the record. As you have already scanned the documents you can post them here directly, see this link: http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/network-information/12816-how-insert-pictures-videos-into-your-posts.html Offhand I would say your Father's service was probably UK based or there would be obvious notes about embarkation etc for foreign service. Try as Tom suggests, google the units and see what comes up, then come back withwhat you have found. Good luck!
Oh how do I do that please, have tried google them, but not getting very far. I know what most of the regt names are but nothing about where there were posted. posting list thanx Mike. x have managed to attach list now
Nothing obvious there that suggests foreign service Charmaine. Probably your next move should be to see if you can locate war diaries for the units mentioned. If they still exist they should be at The National Archive, Kew and you can search their catalogue online. Then perhaps ask if anyone here has a copy or could copy it for you. Andy (Drew5233) and Lee (psy.war.org) both offer reasonable cost copying.
Here's a list of HAA Regiments. RA 1939-45 HAA Index Click on each one on your list for a bit more info.
Hi Charmaine and welcome I have checked and all these units were based in the UK while your father was with them. Best Rob
thanx Rob so much I am very grateful, now I just hope to find where in the UK, I expect Norfolk and Suffolk coastal area
