I'm making a diarama of Easy company of the 101st airborne around Bastogne.I need to know was it the Waffen-SS that attacked easy co. or the heer the battle I want to do is I think on the 24th of 1944.The battle is on the movie Band of Brothers episode 6 Bastogne were all them German tank are going through the snow when Doc Roe saves "smokey" Gordon. If anyone knows anything about the divisions that attacked easy co. on that day it would be very helpful.I will post the photos of it later.THANKS

XXXXVII Panzerkorps received the 'Nuts!' note at Bastogne.

A quick look in 'Battle of the Bulge' shows the Panzerkorps consisted of 2. Panzer-Div, Panzer-Lehr-Div, 26. Volks-Grenadier-Div and a few Assault Units, Artillery and Engineers at the start of the campaign. However units were swapped and moved for reinforcements and the like as the battle developed.

So at first glance (A quick one)I'd say no SS units fought the 506th PIR at Bastogne. Looking at the list above I'd guess it was 26. Volks-Gren. Div.

A quick check of the numerous Major Winters/Easy Company websites via google should give you more details. I'd just double check it though.

Just had a look at the BOB book and one of the Easy Company guys (Pvt Ralph Trapazano) captures an SS trooper. They also mention the 26th SS Panzer Grenadier Regiment of the 12th SS hit the 501st on Easy Co's right flank and the 9th SS hit the 502nd on Easy Co's left flank.

The two German formations that faced the 506th PIR were the 26th VolksGrenadier Division on the right and 2nd Panzer Division on the left. Now where the 2nd battalion of the of 506th was, was not explicitely stated, but Easy Company retook Foy, so I suspect they were opposite the 2nd PD. A Time for Trumpets, MacDonald, 1884, starting on 488

David Kenyon Webster's book, Parachute Infantry, does not mention Foy, as he was recovering from wounds at the time and did not participate in the fighting at Bastogne.
