    Hi,

I have a black leather holster that I think is German and possibly from the WW2 era. It has tooling on it - which I think is edelweiss. It has the name Goricke on it as well (umlaut on the o) but I am having a hard time finding any information out about this. Of course I could be way off as well.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Not an expert with these sort of things but I'm sure it would help if you could provide clearler images and measurements of the holster plus the interior wear and stress spots.

Perhaps this website might offer insight as to the weapon used not necessarily being German design.

A quick Google search tells me that Goericke is a well-known German bicycle firm. They have been in business for many years, and their bikes were used by the German armed forces. Bikes have many types of leather accessories--straps, handlebars, seats, etc. I don't know if the company made their own leather goods, but presumably they would have put their brand name on leather they used. A leather holster for a bicycle would not be an extraordinary thing, especially if it was a military-issue bike. Holsters can be used for other things than pistols, too, and in the Europe of those days civilian bicyclists sometimes carried small pistols (Often to deal with over-aggressive dogs!). However, I would strongly suggest that you find some good German militaria sites to help with your search.

Thanks for all the info so far!

    Thanks for the link Bill!

I did see the bike and a motorcycle connection as well,

I agree that the flowers don't seem very military like, but wasn't sure because there are some patches that have edelweiss on them - could be a stretch though - for sure.
