Regimental cap badge, does anyone recognise it?
No clues with the rest of his insignia as he is a Commando.

I have no idea if this is possible, and its a blurry pic, but it is kind of reminiscent of the Polish Independent Carpathian Brigade (the SBSK) badge:

Pat, Thank you for the reply. He is an Army Commando, I am assuming the cap badge will be of his parent Regiment?

I don't know much about Commandos (sorry), but I believe that was the case - looking at the badge it does look like the SBSK one, although it's hard to be sure.

    Good luck, Pat.

Are there no more clues as to the Regiment etc? A name, nationality, general context? That could at least validate the potential Polish connection.

    SDP,
The Army Commandos retained the cap badge of the Regiment that they orginally enlisted, prior to volunteering for Commandos.
No.6 Troop of No.10 (Inter-Allied) Commando was a Polish unit.
This man is from 3 Commando which was made up from volunteers from all Regiments of the British Army.
I did wonder if it could be a Cavalry or Yeomanry cap badge?

So are you saying that in all probability the chap can't be Polish and consequently the cap badge must be of a British Army Regiment and not a Polish Regiment?

    SDP,
He won't be Polish, it will be a British Regimental cap badge.

In ┼Áhich case it might be an idea to check over at 'The British and Commonwealth Military Badge Forum'. I'll also put some thought to it myself.

Would it be possible to show the all photo please? I do think it would of been wise to show all the info you had in the first place. A shocking picture.

    Regards

Many thanks for all the replies. It was alway going to be tough to identify with such a poor resolution image.

I've checked through a few hundred images of British and Commonwealth Armoured, Cavalry and Infantry Regiments and so far come up with precisely nothing. I think this is going to be one of those occasions where the answer is hiding in plain view!
