I have two photos of my grandad in army uniform however I cannot find his service record on the usual online forums. Born in 1918 I believe he enlisted either just before or at the outbreak of WW2. He was discharged on medical grounds early on, he had polio as a child so maybe wasn’t in the best of health. There’s also a family story that he took part in the testing of gas masks and some of the men died as a result, he also wore a silver badge to show he’d been discharged. I’ve found records of other family members but not for Frank Wyldbore, I heard on the radio that just one day in uniform meant you have a service record. Can anybody please suggest why I cannot find his? Thank you.
