At first glance I thought a rifle grenade - looks very similar to several WW1 models - but frustratingly not the no.39 (Stuart). Can't see the other end where the rod might have been attached - I am a complete novice at this kind of thing, but enjoyed looking, thank you for posting.
I agree with Brian - 1st WW rodded rifle grenade of 'Hale's Type' (without rod fixed) however the casting is not any of the numbered patterns. The markings are not typically British. My hunch is French. I urge you to be careful - many 1st WW grenades have no easy means of emptying the explosive which by now is very unpredictable. No fuse does NOT mean it is safe.
