  1. Hello all,

    My name is Adam and I have been researching my Grandad's regiment for some years now and I would like to speak with others interested in the following topics;

    *Writing a historical book about a regiment
    *99th Bucks Field Regiment
    *Dunkirk and the BEF
    *Burma Campaign and the 14th Army
    *2nd Infantry Division
    *Research at the National Archives

    As with many veterans of war my grandfather would never talk about his time at war other than to say it was very boring. It would seem, however, that this wasn't the case. Having trawled the war diaries for his rgmt he saw plenty of intense fighting. From Belgium in 1940, to Dunkirk, to Rangoon, Imphal, Mandalay and Kohima he truly was 'Ubique'.

    He died some years before I was born and many stories and experiences died with him. I have been determined to research the actions of his regiments with the goal of one day putting together in book form so that maybe somebody else like me can appreciate what their ancestors did for them.

    WO CL2 William R. "Bill" Smith 99th (Buckinghamshire Yeomanary) Field Regiment RA. On active service between 1939 - 1946.
