Hello everyone! Since i used this forum a couple of times to obtain information, i guess it's time to introduce myself! My name is Jarno Boer and i'm from the Netherlands. Both my grandfathers (my dutch grandfather and my indonesian grandfather) fought in the Dutch Indies against the Japs. Both got POW and both survived working on the Birma railway. My indonesian grandfather even survived the Bridge over the river Kwai in Thailand. I'm 30 years old and working as an Aftersales Manager at a Telecom company. Needless to say i've been my entire live interested in the military. Lately i'm collecting original ww2 photographs. I try to find the complete information and story/detail behind every photograph i acquire - so you will see me a lot! Greetz, J.Boer
Hi there Jarno and welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy reading posts and joining in.... we are after all 'mostly harmless'.
Hi all, very interesting site, what I've seen so far. My Father served with the 51st Highland Division 1939-1946. He never spoke of his experiences until his last few years, and i have been hooked ever since. I have used some of his stories and pictures etc + from other veterans to compile a website. (www.keep-em-moving.com) I have interest in Military history in general and ww2 in particular. Looking forward to the various discussions. regards Richard Sands
Welcome to the site. Have you any photos to share on Arnhem oe Nijmegen? For many origional WW2 photos, including Nijmegen and other parts of Holland, check out my site at: http://coleraine-battery.tripod.com I would recommend the eightharmy WW2site but it appears to be down when I checked it today. Can anyone put me right on this site?
