    Hi Frank (mindem1759),
I downloaded your map about 6 Gordon dipositions (ppt). It is quite a good map. I'm interested in study the battle for "the thumb" at Aprilia. Do you have other maps about that battle? Or can you suggest me where to find 'em?
    Thanks a lot for helping.

This IWM photo came up on an FB page a couple of days ago. Although not mentioned in the caption :-
"Universal carriers and a Sherman tank on the beach at Anzio, 22 January 1944."
As far as I can calculate based on the '62' Arm of Service serial (and perhaps backed up by the Scottish names on the carriers), if it is indeed 22nd January then these are probably from 6th Gordons.

    Rich.

You are spot on and it can only be 6 GORDONS because only 2 Infantry Brigade Group - 6 GORDONS, 1 SG, 1 LOYALS and 2 N STAFFS, came over Peter Beach on 22-23 Jan 44. The beach was not good so it was decided to take full advantage of the Ranger/Commando operation that had very quickly secured the port to divert all traffic via that access point.

    Regards
