The name's Andrew Smith, I'm a 18 year old Southerner from Tennessee. Both of my grandfathers served during WWII - one fought and was wounded in France while in a howitzer battery and the other served in the Occupation of Italy at a prison camp and head of a officer's service club. I have a site dedicated to WWII Allied veterans: www.geocities.com/roav1945 There you can find stories of Spanish Civil War vets (International Brigades), a Canadian who landed D-Day Plus 2, and a Soviet gentleman whose first battle was at Stalingrad. Sincerely, Andrew Smith
Andrew, welcome to the boards, thank you for your contributions to WW2 history on the web, and your grandfathers' service to their country. You'll enjoy it here!
thank you for your replies. This forum is a whole lot better than Axis History (too many fascist sympathizers including a Croat admin. that deleted every post that mentioned the Ustasha). Nice to be around people who admire the Allied side for once!
Hello Andrew, Welcome Had a quick read on the Welsh chap. Will delve into the site when I've a bit more time.
Welcome to the forum and enjoy your stay. We won't let the fact that you are from Tennessee cloud our judgement of you too much. :sign_oops:
Oh Lord! Another yank teenager! Run for the hills! Oh? This one is nice? Okay, I'll be gentle with him. Hi Andrew, great to have you aboard. You will get used to my sense of humour. Eventually. Kitty

I have Owen, and i am very impressed. I was merely teasing. Must go out and buy a new sense of humour, this one seems to be faulty. I am really looking forward to seeing him on the forums.
Oh Lord! Another yank teenager! You can call me whatever you want but never ever call a Southerner a Yankee! Its the worst thing to call someone from Dixie! ha
You can call me whatever you want but never ever call a Southerner a Yankee! Its the worst thing to call someone from Dixie! ha That could be famous last words. I apologise for calling you a yank. What do you call southeners anyway? Sounds like calling all Brits 'English'. Guaranteed to wind up the Celts amongst us. So which is your personal area of interest in WW2? Kitty
That could be famous last words. I apologise for calling you a yank. What do you call southeners anyway? Sounds like calling all Brits 'English'. Guaranteed to wind up the Celts amongst us. Slow speaking? :sign_lame: Only joking!
Plant Pot, you are going to get me into trouble! Are you aware morse has put forth the idea of a sin bin? I am so going to be in it permanently.
You can call us Southerners - Rebels (high school mascot is that by the way due to Battle of Franklin which claimed the highest number of American generals' lives in a single battle - 7 including the South's great Irishman: Patrick Cleburne). Interested in all things WWII - I'm starting to get into Allied colonial empires and their contribution to WWII. Also interested in the British Commonwealth (past and present) since its still the largest state in the world.
Fair play to you Andrew. Most Americans seem to have little interest in other countries contributions. It's refreshing to read your post. Hope we can help you increase your knowledge and vice versa.

Also interested in the British Commonwealth (past and present) since its still the largest state in the world. Ah yes the Commonwealth. We used to have an Empire as well you know.... that of course started to change as soon as we started to drink coffee instead of tea. Well that's my theory anyway.
Ah yes the Commonwealth. We used to have an Empire as well you know.... that of course started to change as soon as we started to drink coffee instead of tea. Well that's my theory anyway. Works for me. Okay Andrew, i shall henceforth know you as a Rebel. I am known as Kitty. it is a long story, and stems from my being a Cheshire girl. This is the level of humour to be found here. Nice to see someone outside of the Commonwealth taking an interest in our history. How far back do you go? 19th century? 18th? or just 20th? Kitty
