Hi, I'm new on here, and after browsing for a bit seeing the very interesting topics and helpful knowledge many of you have I thought this is the site to join! I have a nice collection of WW1 & 2 Militaria and Love the more unusual type of finds. This unidentified piece of shrapnel i have being one of them. But I cant track down what this is exactly, It came to me in a tin box about 20 years ago containing some lead figures, a live 303 Round..!. And a Spark Plug that was said to have came from a Mono winged Deperdussin that came down near Wymondley, Hertfordshire, UK in 1912.... There is an interesting story to this crash here: Captain Patrick Hamilton and Lieutenant Atholl Wyness-Stuart The item in question looks to be a possible fuse part of a projectile, it is 8.5cm long with a lead domed end of 4cm diameter, it has a fuse type inner core. I will add the pictures, please add any opinions and hello again its great to be part of WW2Talk!
Hi Summerdannys, and welcome. Quite the little piece of shrapnel you have there. I haven't a clue what it could be but hopefully someone on the forum can help, lots of knowledgeable people on here. I'm just not one of them My very part-time job is a WW2Talk greeter ->, and I'm even unsure of my capabilities in that arena, I have no formal Walmart training :p :358: Wayne
