Hello, I am a new member and am trying to find information about my fathers service in WW2. His name was Arthur Frederick Moore. Army number 1777061. He was a radar operator in the Anti Aircraft fist signing up to the 24th Heavy training regiment. He embarked from Liverpool to Egypt on 7th Jan 1942 arriving in Egypt on 13th April 1942. He served there until he returned on 6th May 1945 serving there 3 years and 120 days. I believe his unit was the 20th Heavy Anti Artillery Battery. Again as far as I can tell from research on line this came under the 9th (Londonderry) Heavy Artillery Anti Aircraft Regiment RA. Whilst in Egypt he saved a man from the sea (Bdr Riddel) and was the subject of a humorous poem written by his fellow soldier S Warner.
Any information would be very welcome. Greg Moore
