Spotted these in Swanton Morley Church, Norfolk. Must have been a couple of characters. I had my shear of worldly care. When I was living as you are. But now my body is laid in durt. until the Rifing of the tuft. O why should I be loth to die. Who lived so long in pain. I had rather chuse to go to Christ. And there with him remain.
Hi Would that not be ... until the Rising of the Just ? and then maybe the last word in the line before is dust? Long s - Wikipedia
Here is one in Malmesbury Abbey churchyard. In bloom of life She's snatched from hence She had not room to make defence For Tyger fierce took life away And here she lies In a bed of clay Until the resurrection day Not many tigers in Malmesbury in 1703 I wouldn't have thought!
Don't have a photo but there is the famous headstone for a Brigadier, accidentally shot by his batman. "Well done thou good and faithful servant"
I often walk around cemeteries. I know family and friends think it odd. Odd? Not at all. Cemeteries, are open air museums. And all for free. Veronica.
Always my first port of call when on holiday or a day out. I have noticed that there is a recent trend in having a name and date of birth on a headstone but no date of death. I am presuming that wife/husband has died and their spouse has their name engraved awaiting their own demise.
Not for everyone but I find cemeteries to be fascinating places as well. A great way to understand the history of a community.
My fathers day pressie this year from my 2 gorgeous daughters, as they know I like nothing better than wandering around cemetery's and looking for war memorials whilst out and about they spotted these and couldn't resist buying me these I have never laughed so much thanks girls you are the best.
