Was doing a refurb job on a water pumping station and had the task of trying to locate as built drawings of the equipment to be modified.

Normally this is a souless task - check the remote digital archive to see if anyone digitised the microfilm cards. The see if the microfilm archive still exists(usually skipped when only a subset were digitised).

Once the remote storage solutions are exhausted then the last hope is to go to site in case the record drawings still exist on the wall or in a roll on top of a cabinet.

As stations have become unmanned and subject to frequent refurbs the last hope has, in my experience,. never come up with the goods.

However recently I came across the exception - a station that still retained a plan chest in an abandoned works manager office. Even better the selection of "as builts" also contained two posters from when the station was used as a local Home Guard HQ.

For your delight I attach the 1943 poster for the Hawkins Grenade.
