Hello all, I have been in touch with the CWGC concerning their grave ref. numbers for this cemetery as some are incorrect. They show the casualtys as being in 2 plots only in this cemetery, PLOT O and PLOT N. Plot O is correct, this is the dedicated CWGC plot, but the list for plot N is INCORRECT. Out of all the names listed for this plot only 5 are correct the rest being scattered in various plots throughout the cemetery. This came to light when nicks couldn,t find a headstone for ramacal when he visited recently. I know the cemetery quite well, having photographed some of it for the WGPP and various other people doing research, and as I was going over to do some for a forum member I thought I would look for ramacal as well. However, using the CWGC ref. I found no sign of this casualty in the plot. so I went into the cemetery office and they produced the plot plan(N) and gave me precise directions for the grave. I found an unmarked grave and as I knew some graves haven,t got CWGC headstones I took a pic. anyway. When I got home I cross referenced the name on WGPP, which I should have done first anyway, and discovered that not only was there a headstone but it had an entirely different grave ref Plot BB, same grave no. different plot. This had been taken by another colleague. At first I thought it was a one off but I checked all the CWGC refs on their site and then compared them with the ones that we had and found that there were more . I would suggest that if you need to get any correct grave references for Hawkinge or you wish to double check a grave reference for other cemeterys to check on the WGPP site, search, then enter cemetery or casualty. If the casualty is listed then you know the ref shown is correct. This is free and may save you walking around a cemetery. I will update when I get a reply, Derek ps have put link and plan on here

I have now received a very nice reply from the CWGC who are sending their regional supervisor to check the grave refs. and amend any that are wrong. Derek

Thank you for the information I have spent time trying to find War Graves even with the help of a local person and come away not even seeing a name let alone a stone.
