For anyone with an interest in the DLI sadly i have to report that Harry Moses has passed away.

Harry has been the foremost Historian and researcher on the DLI of modern times and has authored a number of books on the Regiment as well as being the driving Force behind the IWM Audio project interviews with veterans of the DLI many of whom he knew intimately as close friends.

Harry was always willing to share his knowledge and considerable archive and i have been fortunate to have known him for over 30 years during which time he has mentored myself and many other researchers of the DLI.

Aside from being a superb and respected Historian he was a bloody good bloke .

    Rest in Peace Harry

    Very sad news indeed :(
I will let Verrieres (Jim) know .I am aware he helped Harry with the awards section on his 2 DLI publication . Harry had been working on a 1st DLI History I believe?

    Oh dear :(

Condolences to all family and friends at this time.

    Hi Kyle ,

Yes Harry had been working for quite some time on his 1 DLI book and had reached the period prior to WW1 which was being proof read , the furure of the book is now unknown but we are hoping someone can pick up the mantle as continue the work as a tribute to Harry .

I corresponded with Harry around 8 years ago about something to do with the 6th Bn Durham Light Infantry. He couldn’t have been more helpful or nicer.

His books are great and so too, therefore, is his legacy.

    RIP Harry Moses.

  7. So sorry to hear this. I never got the chance to meet Harry, but had been in correspondence with him when he was writing his books on the 6th and 9th Bn.'s. Does anyone have a list of all the books he wrote? I never knew he was working on a book about the 1st Bn.
As others have said, he had a wealth of knowledge and was always happy to share it with people who were interested.
    He will be sadly missed.
