Maybe we should have a photo bookshelf thread? ;)
Now that could open up another thread........ 'whats that book third from the left with the red cover';)

For me, the main question is "Is it a first edition?". I prefer hardbacks but if the 1st is a paperback then so be it :).

I've been letting this one sink in for a while now. I can't really come to any hard and fast conclusion. Probably because I have no such rule.

I think, when all's said and done though;I want to access the information, first and foremost. Thus I'll happily buy a paperback, 'For a look'. Plus, most of the books I buy on this subject are simply offered in PB anyway. And I buy them. Read them. Put them aside .....

But, if I 'respect' a book particularly? Feel I may want to read it again (and again?) and have others notice it on my book shelf? Then I may yet seek it out in HB.

Of course, WW2 being a more recent and secondary interest of mine, more of my books are about rodents and pest control related stuff. Many of them older books. Thus I have quite a collection of nicely musty, worn old thick editions up there. Every one a hard back. Such books ooze charm and mystique, don't they?

Book Shelf Piccies Thread? Be murder, wouldn't it? Like watching " Steptoe and Son ". So much to try and make out in the background!
