Happy St Patrick's day to all, especially our Irish forum members. Hard to believe that it is a year since the last celebrations, where has it gone? Regards Tom
Slainte!! I was once told this is pronounced by by saying " It's a lawn chair" in a drunken manner "slawnshair" is this true??
We celebrated St. Patrick's Day today in Baton Rouge. Yes, I know it's really on the 17th, but that was a Thursday and today is Saturday. The parade rolled at 10 AM. I started doing tequila shots at 9 AM, then went to Mexican beer before blowing it all out later in the day. All better now though. The weather was nice, mid 80s (F), sunny, and a little breeze to help cool things off a bit. We had some real Irish people as grand marshals too. They were on a float throwing beads and drinking green beer, but I couldn't tell if they were really Irish or not since I didn't get a chance to talk to them. Not like I would understand them though, but I do recognize the dialect. I guess that I will have to believe what the paper said about them being from Killlarney, Ireland. They had Irish names like Denis Coffey, Thomas Finnegan, Mickey Leahy and Ivar Quigley. Good enough for me I guess. It did look like they were having fun wherever they were from though.
May those who love us, love us And those who don't love us, May God turn their hearts And if he can't turn their hearts, May he turn their ankles So we will know them by their limping! Here's to a long life and a merry one A quick death and an easy one A pretty girl and an honest one A cold beer and another one! A family in our close is Irish and had hung an Irish Tricolour out of an upstairs window this morning. Following the Rugby result its been replaced by a White flag. My mate Colin (from Dublin) has promised the guinness will flow anyway when we meet up next week. God bless the Irish. Happy St Patrick's Day to you all. Best, Steve.
Had a few pints of the 'Liffy water' last night, going into this morning, just for St Paddy's celebratary reasons of course. Fingers still function but the eyes are suffering a bit. Not too sure about the brain.
