Owen means the anniversary of unification of Upper and Lower Canada, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia as the Dominion of Canada or the British North America Act. Used to be called Dominion day.
Was that a Canadian eh? , eh? Yea. 140 years ago when they founded the country they didn't know what to call it. So they put all the letters of the alphabet in a bag and decided to call their new country the name the letters formed as they came out. The first letter was drawn and the drawer held it up so everyone could see, "C eh?" the next drawn was again held up "N eh?" and finally the last was drawn "D eh?" That's how Canada was named. It's marvellous what one can learn on this site.
Exactly 140? or aboot 140? The missus and I have yet to meet a Canadian we didn't like. Huge automatic weapon ownership... yet they choose not to use them on each other. Top country with the good sense to still have a Queen. Cheers, Adam.
Its well worth the visit, went last October and married a Canuck. Lovely race of people who are very patriotic about their country but still love their mother country, guess you could call them British Wanna-be's in a way. Lots of Canadian flags flying outside the houses all year round as well as British flags flying beside theirs. Happy birthday Canada, may you have many more. Mike
Lots of Canadian flags flying outside the houses all year round as well as British flags flying beside theirs. Australians have always been a bit frugal so we kept the two flags in one.
