Tom mentions my grandaughter back from Africa.....I'm terribly proud of all of my kids & grandkid's achievements and this particular young lady, Grandaughter No.2, has just returned to the fold after three months away in South Africa, The first two months were spent as a volunteer on a snake farm and I couldn't resist letting you all see the snap below.

It's really no problem to reach a "respectable" age....... all you have to do is keep breathing

As a matter of interest, I recently attended my sister's birthday party (she had just reached the age of 90).

Also present were two other sisters aged 92 & 94 respectively while my "kid" sister, also in the picture (Copyright Studio 2000) owns to a mere 76.

In my era they built them to last !

Firstly, many thanks to everyone, both for your very kind messages left in my mail box and also for the good wishes expressed above (and now I see below)

I have to admit that I am very happy with this forum, both for the expertise displayed by so many of its members and the cameraderie that existes amongst its diverse characters. Long may the forum prosper !

I claim no merit in reaching what might be considered a ripe old age, it's simply a question of remembering to put one foot in front of another and to carry on eating & sleeping, but, it helps immeasurably if one has a soul-mate to share the joys and vicissitudes of that funny old thing that we call "life".

My wife, my kids & my grandkids have once again done me proud and this evening Nita & I will hie off to a local hostelry to mark the day.
