Only just seen this post, a belated happy birthday to Ron a long but not lost Hero. Very Best Wishes.

Whilst thanking you for your greetings and trying not to be churlish, I feel I should point out that having served in ww2 does not automatically make one a hero and I would never knowingly have accepted that as a title.

There are, and were of course, true heroes during ww2, (I have my own) and we have touched on that in other threads.
