Details of the above loss. 19 August 1940 14 OTU Hampden I P1305 Op. Training Took off from Cottesmore for a navigation exercise. Emerged from the cloud base, diving almost vertically and crashed at Sharnbrook, 8 miles north north west of Bedford. All were taken to Cardington (St.Mary) Church Cemetery for burial in a collective grave. Sgt. Bishop was the son of the Revd L. Cornewall Bishop of South Kensington.
