Hi, out on my government approved unlimited stroll yesterday I ended up in Frittenden, a small village in Kent near where I live. I stumbled on a small cemetery with a commonwealth graves sign so popped in and found the attached. Very sad to see this chap lost his life just after the end of hostilities in Europe. A google search shows he died piloting an Anson in Anglesey along with his crew but I can’t find any more details. Any of you chaps in the know able to provide additional info?
Hello, His unit was No. 9 (O) FU. Serial number and crew listed: RAFCommands Archive :: Fl/Sgt Harold SORRELL Regards, Dave
Cheers Dave, should have said that was the link I found, I meant any info on the crash? It’s too hot, it made me even slower than usual when compiling a post!
No worries. The survivor was 167298 P/O Leon Austin Carroll. The attached should answer your questions. Regards, Dave
