Hi there this is my first post. I am trying to find photos or information about H.M.S LAPWING WW2 and crew there is a bit of information online but I would like to know more about an Edward Close RN (D/JX 140143). British died 1945 20th march he is the father of my best friend Gary close age 67 from bootle. It would be great if anyone could help as Gary only knows a few things about his dad and I want to be able to help him find more stories and information of the ship and his father and others that might have known him. I am trying to get as much as i can and put it together to give to him as he talks about his dad alot and always says he wishes he new more as he was a baby when the ship was sunk. Thanks to anyone who can help and hope to see you around the board..:):)

Many thanks for the information Clive - the CWGC info is incorrect he was only 19 when he died. I think my grandparents put what his age would have been at the time they completed the forms in 1951. After I sent a lot of evidence the CWGC have now agreed to amend their records (at some stage)
