I'm confused here - the photo above states that HMS Crane was in action 14 Jan 1943 HMS Crane, sloop - this site states the last Crane wasn't operational until July 1943 and this site HMS Crane (1943) SL 7 says - Built by Denny, laid down 13-Jun-1941, launched 09-Nov-1942, and completed 10-May-1943 So how was it in action in Jan 1943?? These are the details for the 6th HMS Crane - HMS Crane (1898) TBD 6 TD
I think this must be a typo from the IWM. HMS CRANE was not commissioned into the RN until 10th May 1943 her first convoys appear to be in July of that year. Regards Hugh
