    YORK CEMETERY, YORKSHIRE
    • Country: United Kingdom
    • Locality: Yorkshire
    • Historical Information: During the 1914-1918 War, York contained the Headquarters, Northern Command, the York Record Office; the Depot of the West Yorkshire Regiment and four auxiliary hospitals. On the 28th April 1942, one of the "Baedeker" series of air raids was directed at the heart of the city. As the headquarters of the Northern Command, York, which was one of the military areas of that Command, and also contained the Depot of the West Yorkshire Regiment, was the centre of many military camps. It was surrounded by air force stations, and a number of prisoner-of -war camps were set up in the vicinity, a prisoner-of-war military hospital having been established at Naburn.

    • Location Information: This is at West Molesey; it was made in 1866, and it now belongs to the Esher Urban District Council.

    ENFIELD (LAVENDER HILL) CEMETERY

    • HISTORY INFORMATION: Enfield (Lavender Hill) cemetery contains war graves of both world wars. there are 33 burials of the 1914-18 war comprising 3 from the Royal Air Force, 2 from the Royal Navy, one from the Royal Naval Air Service, one from the Royal Marines and 26 soldiers from the united Kingdom. The 1939-45 burials number 57, which except for one Canadian are all from forces of the United Kingdom. A small service plot of 12 graves exists in Section Z, to the west of the main entrance. The rest of the graves are scattered throughout the cemetery.
