This site was recommended to me by a friend who has researched and published (academically) on WW2 related matters. I am currently based on mainland Europe and will betaking advantage of the next few years here to explore some of the known and lesser known campaign trails of NW Europe, with a particular focus on the retreat through France in 1940 and the Italian Campaign. The other itch that I have to scratch is the evolution and performance of British Army armoured brigades over the course of war. As a newbie to archival research I am already indebted to many of the threads here on this site!
Red Rat. You might want to have a look at the performance of 2 British Armoured Brigade in the first week of Sep 44 during Op OLIVE and the battle for the Gothic Line near Rimini. I am taking a group there in Sep 19 if you would like to have a good look. It is a grim story. Regards Frank
