Yes, in fact I also found this a few meters from the plate, infantry-United Kingdom.

Having gone through my files I don't think I have anything on The Fortress. The only one that is unidentified is this, which might be Torre Lorenzo as it appears to be near to the coast.
Any advice on it name and location would be gratefully accepted. It comes from the Shepherd Family Collection.
The accompanying photo of a map might be the subject in the photo bottom left.

Your postings are worryingly like pieces from the same person. Metal detecting is a sensitive subject in the UK and I would suspect in an area like Anzio where human remains might still be found.
There could also be unexploded ordnance.

the infantry was encamped in via Ardeatina, near a pine forest, together with the allies who were in Nettuno. the fighting all took place towards the canals, or ditches (moletta, good rest, etc. etc.) until after Aprilia. I think it is close to some channel. I try to do some research since I'm in the area.

Yes, it's full of bombs here, but human remains are really hard to find.

From your reply above I cannot condone or support your activities. It sounds both irreverent to the fallen, irresponsible and dangerous so will not follow this thread any further.
Please reconsider what you appear to be doing and desist..

che esagerazione, sono una ricercatrice da anni, collaboro con giornali e tv, e il rispetto per i caduti non c'entra niente. rivedere le tue idee che sono sbagliate

Glad to hear you are a responsible researcher just felt that I should question your comment, as I don't speak Italian.
Apologies i but I felt that I could not ignore the statement "Yes, it's full of bombs here, but human remains are really hard to find". without checking.
    Good luck in your endeavours.

Stuart Avery In my wagon & not a muleteer.

Which part of the landing area ofAnzio? I'm guessing somewhere in the port? This chap has not been seen for a while. I'm guessing that human remains really are hard to find, seeing has I'm sure that the vast majority have been found that are going to be found. Many still missing.

The two cemeterys have quite a few in them. After coming across a Headstone of a Cpl of the 2/7 Mx Regiment ( with no name on it) and then being able to put a name on it-then i find it a tage strange has to why anyone would even try and find one.

I may be missing something here? Out of the blue the other day, I got a email from a chap who's Father who served in the same Coy, of the same regiment asked me if he could help me out? We needed him a while back, but was unable to get hold of him. No, was my reply. I emailed him all the documents that was sent to CWGC back in 2019.

Myself, and three other forum members are STILL waiting for them to get there act together and put this chaps name on the headstone. When it gets to four years, then a kick up there lazy, long winded ( back-side) needs a large No nine.. Last I heard, this chaps daughters are getting on a bit and I need to get on with some emails to see how they are getting on with whats been going on in the World. Corvid etc.

    Regards,
    Stu.
