I had this mistaken belief that the CWGC, or at least the predecessor unit, came along once the war had ended, after the smoke had cleared so to speak, but they were obviously very much in the thick of it. Assigned to the unit from varying regiments too, I see. Assigned to the organisation and recording of war graves, some of them sadly became subjects of the task themselves.
