    Hi,

My reading of his record is that he was admitted to 53 General Hospital - in Italy - in late February 1944 and was transferred to 12 General Hospital in Palestine in mid April 1944.

He is shown as being on the strength of MEF throughout that period. If he had seen service in Burma I would have expected to have seen him shown as being under SEAC?

Unless there are omissions on his B103 it appears that he didn't serve in Burma.

Have you checked his unit War diary for the relevant periods as his initial admission to hospital and subsequent movements whilst away from his unit would've likely been shown on the unit weekly field returns if they were "desirous of his return" to his unit.

I visited the National Archives and did a similar exercise for an uncle and the entries on his RA unit field returns were accurately reflected in his B103.

    Good Luck
