I wonder if the middle one of post 83 is from the German Invasion of Crete in 1941.

Thats very possible, as everywhere else seems to be mentioned in the photographs.

It would be nice if someone recognizes someone in the pictures or can shed more information with whats going on with the various units etc.

Grandad on the right holding the dog. Location 886 Cyrene

Nice to see a 13 cab CMP in the background. I'm not too hot on transatlantic cars but assume that it's a Chevrolet in the foreground.

Erm, don't suppose he photographed any motorcycles did he ?

I've seen that photo published on the net and perhaps in books before. It definitely is Crete. Poking around I found this obscure link to a small museum in Crete.

    Sfakia, Crete

I got the impression that some of them weren't taken by him, some of these pictures are small roughly about 2"x1" maybe that was a standard size of photograph in those days !

Unfortunately a few of the pictures have fallen from the pages, I still have them there just lying loose, not sure what would go where !

    > The road on above picture is at DERNA.
    > The 'lookout' is actually an Italian monument fo their fallen soldiers in the colonial war. It stood near BARCE but is not existing any more --- as far as I know.

Grandad on holiday, he was an Aberdonian before he joined !

All kidding aside, I do know he had to go round the pubs and clubs having to pull the troops out and keeping some sort of order.

Try this program for resizing and watermarking your photos. I've been using it for a year now and had no problems, best of all it free for home users.

Download Visualizer Photo Resize for free
