I have now heard back from the Army Personnel Centre at Glasgow, but they are saying that there are no further records held for Uncle Ted - I will try to attach a scan of their explanation - I think I have managed to make the file size small enough. Can anyone tell me how to add an attachment - just can't seem to find the correct 'tool'.

I also have better copies of the Army Form B 102, but I cannot get the scanned file size below >5Mbs - any offers of help will be much appreciated - Owen?

Your best bet for further knowledge appears to be the diaries of 56th Div - or the Fusiliers and their history from Salerno 9th Sept '43 until

Gemmano Sept. '44- they had a hectic time of it- especially when they were with X corps in the US 5th Army- try Andy or psy-org for copies

    Cheers

PS - I note that andy has a list of diaries on posting #55

Many thanks for your very kind offer, Owen - it is much appreciated.

Attached is the contents of the letter received back from Glasgow - any comments from anyone, is this the truth or are they being awkward/lazy?

much as I suspected that anyone KIA - DOW's records were badly handled and too many were destroyed in different departments - so your only hope now is to get

the relevant diaries- sept '43 - '44 and generally follow the action through them - probably costly though…

    Cheers

Hi Tom - it certainly appears that many records would have suffered badly between departments over the years. I have asked Andy if he can give any idea as to the cost of copying those he listed in #55, which should allow me to plot Ted's Service Route all the way through (which, as you say could be costly), or just get the relevant War Diaries for '44 and '45. At least the latter would show his path through the Italian Campaign.

Once again, many thanks for your help, support and guidance on this.

    Regards

more than welcome - that's what we are here for - just to help…you don't need all those listed on #55 - just parts of the bottom

    three should do it…

    Cheers
