    Hi Guys

Great looking site with some good information that I have come across this morning looking for information on the LCF boats on D-day which I have been looking in to, My Grandfather was a specialist gunner on LCF19 and I was hoping to see if I can grab anymore info about this craft also I have a couple of interesting things to share about the mission this ended up going on which was explained to me by my father and my auntie.
    thanks for the add..

    Regards

    Kwai

    Do you know if it was a LCF(1), LCF(2), LCF(3) or LCF(4) ?

LCF 3 to LCF 18 were LCF(3)s which were converted from LCT(3)s so probably an LCF(2) or LCF(4). These were based on either LCT(3) or LCT(4) Hulls although one did use an LCT(2) hull I don't have any numbers for these. I think the LCF(2) was the most common They had two twin 4 inch guns and three 20mm. The LCF(4) had four 2 pounder pom poms and eight 20mm

LCF 19 was an LCF(4) which was up gunned to eight 20 mm and four 40 mm Bofors. After which she was numbered LCF(L) 19. Based at Bucklers Hard before the landings she was used for anti E boat patrols in the Channel (see Robin Neillands, Roderick De Normann. D-day 1944 Voices from Normandy.
