    Hello everyone,
my name is michele bianchini and I am a young historical researcher.
My work concerns Arezzo and its province.
I signed up for information or to share about the events that occurred from april to november 1944 in the arezzo area.
i've found the wreckages of three planes crashed in summer 1944
, one USA bomber A20-J, and two spitfires .
    a warm greeting to all

We appear to have two new posters from Italy with different names but opening lines that are word for word identical -hmmm!

    Ciao Michele-Fred,

The train photo. This stretch of line is near Borghetto, between Castiglione del Lago and Terontola, just before the branch line goes off to Foligno. There are several others in the series. Given that I used to live near Castiglione del Lago, a few years ago I went to the spot, took some photos and sent them to the IWM so that they could adjust the description. They weren't convinced and didn't change it.

The damage was done in one of the most spectacular of the attacks on this part of the line:

Combat chronology USAAF Mediterranean Part 1- 1944. 29 May: In Italy B 26s hit...railway junction and marshalling yard at Terontola...

You can read about it and others in 'La Piccola Patria' (Pietro Pancrazi) and in my book, Cortona 1944

Vitellino (now you know where I used to live)
