Hello Everyone - I am looking for information on my Grandfather, Gnr James Callum, Army No 1819684, India.

I know very little about his whereabouts/movements in WWII other than one Christmas Card received from India (Christmas 1942) and one letter (undated) sent to his sister bearing the above address. I was led to believe he served in the jungle at Burma/India.

I would be so grateful for any information, however small, to help me with my search.

    Many Thanks
    Susannah

    Hi Sussanah and welcome.

Have you applied for a copy of your Grandfather's service records? This will provide a wealth of information about his movements.

    Regards - Rob

132 LAA Battery was in the UK between the outbreak of war and April 1941 and in Burma between January to June 1943.

The above dates are from war diary references at the National Archives database at Kew. They would have been part of a regiment, but I don't have the information at my fingertips until I get back from Hols. There are a couple of Forum Members who will pinpoint which one I'm sure.

Hi Susannah and welcome. Well what I found on the net I couldn't confirm from the other sources so hope that some other member will be able to check this. Seems that 132 LAA Battery was part of 33 LAA Regiment RA (TA). In July or August 1943 it exchanged some of its batteries with 69 ATk Regiment RA, and it seems that 132 LAA become 132 ATk Battery (?) of 69 LAA/ATk Regiment RA. And in September this regiment become 69 Column of Chindits.
