    Hi all

I'm trying to trace some record of my Granddad's military history and having no joy thus far!

All I know is that he was in the TA (Royal Engineer's Regiment) somewhere near Dudley (West Midlands/Black Country) for the first 2 years of WW2.

Any ideas how I could find more details?

I have his medals and the box that they came in has the reference 2/1/11509B - does that mean anything to anyone?

    Thanks
    Joe

    regards and welcome

Hi Joe and welcome to WW2Talk.
The reference means nothing to me I am afraid but someone here will probably know.
Best thing would be to apply to MOD for his servce record:
    service records army
It will cost £30 and will take a few months for a reply. Be sure to ask for a copy of the FULL record.
Might be worth changing your thread title to include his name and 'TA RE 39/41' or similar.

    Good luck,

    Mike
