    Hi All

Little story for you all of a Albert Minards C-Sqn Arnhem 2067655 having taken most of the headstone in the UK of the soldiers and airman that were at Arnhem it came as a surprise to both myself and AndyBaldEagle to find that Albert doesn't have a Headstone.

I contacted the CWGC about this and they sent back that it was his family wishes not to have one form the CWGC they say he will not be forgotten it just surprised me a little to find this out.

    Cheers
    Tom

Unfortunately Minards doesnt even have that! We only found the grave by luck, its a family plot. I will post a picture eventually!

I got a few pics of Commonwealth airman who are buried in Dutch cemeteries but who also do not have a CWGC marker, but rather one erected by locals. I assumed this was really not done, but I have come across them in at least 5 different cemeteries and the designs of the markers is very different every time and very civilian...

When researching the fallen from my own village, I found a grave without the CWGC stone. I e-mailed the CWGC and was told the family had declined a headstone. When you look at the grave today, it is sad to see that one or our servicemen does not have a fitting memorial. It took me ages to find the grave due to lack of markings.

I even offered to contribute towards the cost of a headstone as there are no longer any relatives in the area, but the CWGC would not oblige.

as it is not a CWGC grave you maybe could obtain a small marker with his name and details and have it placed on the grave?

    Hi ramacal,

Thats what Minards looks like and yes it took us some time as well, the only reason we did find him was because of his Mother was down the side of his grave. And Philip good point but even if its not a CWGC he's still on the ROH so how do you work that one out.
