Hi, Just a quick query. Has anyone ever heard of a glider pilot by the name of Matthew Leighton Hall ? It is possible that the surname is Leighton-Hall rather than just Hall. The only info I can find on him is that he was born in 1917 in Kendal and in 1939 was a RAG Sgt Pilot in 1939 but by 1946 was a wholesalr merchant and was an active member of a gliding club in the lake district where there is still a cup awarded in his anme for a competition. I have looked in the Eagle magazine from 1945 onwards and in the various books that have lists of GPR's with no trace of him anywhere. His flying helmet was sold some time ago and as part of the description it states he was a GPR. Anyone ever heard of him at all ? Any help gratefully received. Cheers Arnhem

Hi Itdan, Thanks for the pointers but that's all info I already have. I just need info on his military service with either the RAF or GPR. Cheers Arnhem
If he was an RAF Glider pilot then I'm afraid I don't have him in any of the lists we've compiled for Operation Varsity though the list as some gaps. He may also have just been drafted into the GPR but not flown operationally.
