Staff Rides - Gettysburg -Bull Run 1 and 2 etc: http://www.history.army.mil/srides.html Attending a lecture, the precis issued was a US Army publication headed 'Staff Ride' - not long before a wit looking at the DS stood at the lectern 'I'll give that a miss'. Staff rides exist for other eras. http://www.cgsc.edu/carl/resources/csi/csi.asp#staff
Dave: I have been to Gettysburg, most recently last October. It is a great place, thanks for posting all this.
Here's the Louisiana Monument at Gettysburg. I first visited the battlefield in 1976 as a kid, and was in awe of what was there. Of course my dear ole dad at the wheel only toured the Confederate side of the park. Something about not having enough time to spend there to waste on Yankees or something like that. I always thought that the Mississippi Monument was cooler though. I want to go back one day, now that I know a lot more about that conflict and that campaign in particular and spend about a week there.
