Does anyone know if the german army had any "dozers" with thier engineer units? I have just finished reading "Panzer Aces II" by Franz Kurowski and one of the stories mentioned the tanks digging in for a defensive engagement but I have never seen photo's of Dozer blades on German tanks and it would take a week to dig a hull down position for one. Thanks for any info

    Hello there,
Try a search on Google for 'BergePanther' as in turretless engineer variant of the panther, It could carry a spade that was designed to anchor the vehicle but could conceivably also be used in digging operations. might have some photos of it doing so, so they may turn up on the internet.

'BergPanther' or more universally 'Bergpanzer' is actually a recovery vehicle and as stated the blade on the front of such a vehicle would be primarily for use as an anchor while winching. The term for an engineer vehicle of the type you are looking for would be 'Pionierpanzer'.
