I can modestly say that I uncovered the mystery. When I visited Hanover in May 2008 and photographed the "Missing" headstones, I queried it with Terry Denham of the IFTC Project. It transpired that due to a clerical error the CWGC had not inserted the newly found men onto the database for Hanover, hence they were still listed on Runnymede.

Well done Peter. A very comprehensive report followed. I will now change the lads from Runnymede to Hanover.

    Cheers

    Hi Geoff & Peter,

See what happens when you go to the cemereties, not only do you find more but you also find out what happened to them... Very interesting piece of research by the German research team in finding the Lan and finding the missing crew.. Geoff I know of the same thing at Geosbeek and Oosterbeek when there is a Arnhem casulty with his name at Goesbeek and a headstone at Oosterbeek...

    Cheers

I have a number of casualties who are commemorated in two places- some Arnhem, couple Normandy, they are on my other PC which does not have Internet, soI have to have them on at the same time! I will endeavour to find them this weekend!
One that I can remember is S/Sgt Startup of Glider Pilot Regt, he is commemorated at Groesbeek Memorial, and also on Brookwood Memorial, which is the correct one ( I checked with CWGC Head Office). He was killed in an aircrash if I recal correctly!

    Regards

    Andy
