Can anyone tell me how it was organised at say company down to section level and if it was basically riflemen (any MG34s?) using horses as transport, or if there's a good book on the subject?

At the beginning of 1939 British Army still had 4 regular regiments of horsed cavalry: The Life Guards, The Royal Horse Guards, 1st Dragoon Guards and The Royal Scots Greys (last two regiment were in Palestine). There were also eight horsed yeomanry regiments: The Royal Wiltshire Yeomanry, The Warwickshire Yeomanry, The Nottinghamshire Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry, The Staffordshire Yeomanry, The Cheshire Yeomanry, The Yorkshire Dragoons, The Yorkshire Hussars and The North Somerset Yeomanry. Eventually, before the end of 1941, all these twelve regiments lost their horses.

i seem to remember stories of bef prisoners tales of seeing german horses with british recognition marks..dont know what they would be..but wasnt there also a german purchasing mission to uk before war that brought up many of our horse flesh? I have no sources on this I may add.. But interesting if true..and shan hackett was one of those cavalry men in iraq? sorry if off topic but thought of our own horses used against disbanded calvalry makes me think of utter madness.
