Lorna, I am an Essex boy born and bred but a few months ago I was Best Man at my mate's wedding. He is Essex born too but married a Scottish lass and the ceremony was at the GlenCoe Ski Centre.
At the wedding I wore a kilt for the first time. Rather a strange experience but I thouroughly enjoyed the event.
I and two other Essex ushers were made to feel like honoury Scotsmen for the day. I will always have fond memories of that wedding in Scotland and our welcome there.
That's me on the right, the Groom on the left.

    Hi there,
Hope you all had a great Christmas! We have just had my husband's Mother and Step-Father come to stay and we were telling them both about you, the forum and all the help you have given me in finding out more about Uncle George - mu husband's Step-Father mentoned he too had lost an Uncle during the war whose body was never found.

We did a step by step of what we did for me and we found him - Jack Gilbertson of 83 Squadron RAF Volunteer Reserve buried at the 1939-1945 War Cemetery in Berlin. It is remarkable the power of the internet ... and so starts another person's quest.

Friends of mine who have been so intrigued by what "we" (that is you and me) have discovered are now on the quest also, not just for me but for their lost ancestors too!

Hugs from a humbled but enlightened, Lorna.

You look wonderful in your kilt and if I may say so, were indeed honoured to be allowed to wear one. Whick Clan's tartan did you wear?
