I have been working hard on getting new information, and I have today made an update of the database. More than 1000 new generals have been added to the database - primarily Chinese but also a considerably number of British and US generals has been added. Besides adding new generals a lot of information has been added to the existing ones – again it is mainly the British, Chinese and US sections that have benefitted from this update. More than 300 previously faceless generals are now with a photo.
I hope that you will continue to find the database useful.

I see that I have neglected to bring information about my website updates. So here is a status.

The database now covers 17409 generals distributed over these nations.

There are now photos over a thousand generals.

    Enjoy

Steve - it is easily produced. Here you are:

In the cases were the number has gone down it is because some of the generals was previously thought to have served as generals during the war. Further research has this wasn't the case, they have now been removed.

There are now photos of over 5000 of the generals.

    Enjoy.

Thanks for that Steen. I like your website!

I am surprised at the low number of German Generals. Is this still work in progress?

    Best,

    Steve.

Yes - the number of German generals in the database is low. I am still have to add a bit more than 3000 Germans generals. I do have information on them - so it is just a question of time. I must admit that I have neglected the German generals and concentrated on the other nations as information on most of the German generals is available on the net.

After a long time preparing it a new update was made yesterday. More than 400 (Including German) generals have been added to the database bringing the number up to 21502 generals covered. I added photos on more 500 generals.

Otherwise a lot of information has been added to the American, Chinese, French and Japanese generals.

    Enjoy.

German Generals were sacked for A.H.'s mistakes, then brought back, that is why the Wermacht Generals have a low number from 1939 - 1945 , von Manstein, Guderian both sacked then brought back, had von Manstein had a stronger OKH , that would listen to his ideas he could have fought the numerically superior soviets to a stalemate!

963 German Generals died or were posted missing on active service during those years.
    963...
110 of those killed themselves for assorted reasons, and 22 were executed.

    963.
By no definition does that imply a low number of generals, it being only the ones who died.

    But, whatever...
The Wehrmacht was indeed 'Bled White' in the Ost, if you like it or not.
The stance you're taking is one that has been conclusively demolished over the last twenty years or so. A stance based largely on the testimony of German Officers and brewed up in the context of an increasingly intense Cold War with one of the protagonists.

Steen's thread is not the place for this, though.
Steen's thread is a serious place.
Though I'm guessing you took his list of Generals he has added to his excellent website several years ago to be a full total.
    It isn't.
That 257 is only roughly a quarter the number of those who died - there were a few more...

This is not correct : Manstein was sacked in march 1944 and never came back .

There was also no need to listen to Manstein :stalemate in the East was excluded .What Manstein wanted was that everything would be sent to AGS,if so,this would result in the collaps of AGN and AGC.

    Hi,

It has been a while, and I have been inactive on most forums. I just want to let you know, that I am still working on my database and I have today launched an update of the database, which now includes more than 27.000 generals or equivalents. Thank you to all the relatives, collectors, writers and other contributors who has assisted me – every bits of information counts! I would however like to mention two who have given invaluable support: Tom Chan and Mikhail Eremenko in the Chinese and Soviet sections respectively.

The stats below compared with those above gives you an idea where the updates has been made, though numerous entries has been updated without showing in the stats.

    Enjoy
