In all fairness, I came across this book not too long ago so it was still rattling around in my head

Morris Cohen is the man in the white suit on the right in this picture which also includes Chiang Kai-Shek and Sun Yat-sen.

Morris Cohen (adventurer) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Morris "Two-Gun" Cohen was a WW1 veteran, bodyguard to Sun Yat-sen, Chinese general, SOE operative and all around interesting guy.
The movie "The General Died at Dawn" (1936) starring Gary Cooper was inspired by Cohen, though the main character was changed to an Irish American

Jubal Early is a character in a sci-fi series? That's pretty neat, actually. He was colorful enough to have a TV series of his own. And your answer is correct of course, so over to you.

Which English knight had the opportunity to end a battle before it began when he spotted the (almost) unarmed 'leader of the opposition? He got a battle-axe to the head for his trouble.
