    Field Marshal Montgomery, the famous British army commander in the Second World War (a junior officer in the First World War), later wrote: I would name Sir John Monash as the best general on the western front in Europe.

    John Monash will continue to be remembered as one of the greatest figures in Australian history.

    Training of the men "were the fundamental postulates of tactics."

    This change affected the entire conduct of warfare, since it required the officers to train men in addition to leading them, decreased the size of the basic infantry unit for functional purposes since more specific orders had to be given in battle, and the...required more initiative and intelligence from the average soldier

    Correct!
    Seem to remember a problem with some religions as the paper was coated in porcine (or some animal) fat for waterproofing.

    Right. I'd heard various types of animal fat, depending on whose religion would have been offended by it. :)

    Was it in Indonesia with 120 Squadron Royal Netherlands Air Force during 1948?
