    Dear All,
I was searching the CWGC for the list of 10 persons died on 24th March in a plane crash where Gen Orde Wingate died. In the records of Arlington National Cemetery held with CWGC only four were recorded. They are Borrow Heorge Henry, Emeny Stuart, Wills Stanley and Orde Charles Wingate. Just wandering if Americans were not included in CWGC listing. Can anyone help me in listing the remaining 6 other casualties?
    Thanks in advance.

    Raj.

    Hi Raj

    Here's the gravestone at Arlington.

When the aircraft crashed the resulting fire made identification of the bodies impossible. In that case they got buried together in the country where the majority came from and in this case was USA. I came upon a similar situation with a SOE DC3 crash in Greece in 1944.

    Hope this helps

    Hi Raj,

American personnel are not listed on the CWGC, as they were not part of the Commonwealth. Attached is a photograph of the memorial at Arlington which shows the causalties and their names. If you need more info about George Borrow or Stuart Emeny, then please visit my website and enter their names into the search engine at the top of the page.

Raj. The circumstances around Major-General Wingate's death have always been a matter of conjecture as you know. We have discussed it on the forum from time to time. If you use the search engine, it might throw up some more details for you.

Raj has just messaged me from deep in the jungle in the village near to the crash site. Has been made most welcome by the locals who have provided him and his party with a feast. Apparently he has discovered the missing engine from the Mitchell Wingate was travelling in. He will be visiting the crash site tomorrow and will hold a brief memorial service and wreath laying.
