I made it for most of Sunday! My mother and I went, and enjoyed it greatly. I got some amazing pictures of the planes in the air, including the brilliant tricks done by a fellow in a early 40s trainer biplane, whose name escapes me at the moment.

I know more about European planes, and even then, not that much. I don't know a ton about Mustangs, but it was still a total thrill to see these beautiful, historical machines.. And to touch them, and to tough and go inside a Flying Fortress (though it had sadly been turned into a normalish, fairly contemporary looking plane on the inside), and get a sense of just how huge they really were. I didn't expect to see bombers flying, but they did, to my delight. I had heard there might be a Spitfire, but sadly there was not, unless it was very well hidden.

Just another one of those wonderful things that helps this 20 year old girl get a taste of the past.

Of course I want to hop over the Atlantic now more than ever, and go find some Spitfires and Hurricanes.

[IMG]I can post some more later, when I have the time, but for now, here's a photo of the 20 (I think?) Mustangs flying over in "51" formation.

Very cool Lucy, thanks for that.
Shame we can't hear all those supercharged Merlins screaming. Being 'strafed' by one at treetop height last year left an indelible impression on me.

Haha, a good indelible impression, I hope! I did love to just look up and see and hear them passing overhead like that. What a bit of time traveling!

I got some bits of video footage, but sadly not of any of the big formations

I missed a lot of stuff, and didn't get photos of some amazing stunt pilots at the start. I think they were in Mustangs, certainly something old looking. I assumed my camera wouldn't be able to get anything worthwhile, because it's a tempramental sort. I got some pretty nice pictures of some things, though. Here's the link to more photos.
