I have seen photos of similar vehicles used in the desert as Intelligence units mobile headquarters in books on El Alamein. So you could be looking at a vehicle that had different uses but of the same or similar construction but not always armoured.
Hi Stolpi, The Command vehicle with Dad was a three ton soft skin vehicle with a door along the side and one at the back to a small office. There is a picture somewhere on the site of a similar vehicle dug in in the Middle East but I cannot locate the thread at the moment. Maybe someone can help. Mel
