    RANVILLE WAR CEMETERY

    On 6 June 1944 Stirling IV EF295 of 620 Squadron was carrying the commanding officer of 591 Squadron RE and the HQ party. Shortly after crossing the coast the aicraft was hit by enemy AA fire, caught fire and began to lose height rapidly. The Stirling crashed at Chateau de Granguesn near Dives sur Mare. Sgt. Maund was the Flight Engineer. In total, 16 service men lost their lives in this crash.
